27: A joint Federation-Klingon fleet responds to the continuing buildup of Dominion forces in the Cardassian Union by destroying the Dominion shipyards at Torros III. This sets off the Dominion War.
28: A Dominion-Cardassian force invades Federation space and captures Deep Space 9 in an attempt to control the Bajoran Wormhole, which is the only access they have to Dominion reinforcements in the Gamma Quadrant. They find the wormhole inconveniently mined.

5: After a week of bloody ground and space combat, Bajor is forced to surrender to Dominion forces.

12: A Federation-Klingon fleet retakes Deep Space 9, and forces are landed on Bajor.
13: Dominion forces on Bajor commit mass suicide rather than surrender. Under orders from their Vorta masters, the Jem'Hadar, before taking their own lives, murder all of their Cardassian companions, though the Dominion manages to keep this information from the Cardassian populace for nearly a year.
